News: DREAM TEAM SNATCH CUP FROM FOX
Rileys Pool and Snooker Club in Worcester hosted the 2009 Worcestershire county pool association Inter-League knockout cup.last years champions, unbeaten(in any competition),Worcester Dream Team came up against Redditch A in the first round of matches, and the favourites for more silverware came through 6-3.
In the other matches, perennial underdogs Redditch B came up against an on form Worcester Fox U,going down a mighty 9-0,whilst Kidderminster got their day off to a good start with a 7-2 win over one of last years qualifiers St Johns.

MATCH 2
The Fox U battled it out with bitter local rivals St Johns next, with The Fox continuing where they left off from the previous match by winning the first five frames, eventually finishing 7-2.Newly form Worcester Rileys played their first ever WCPA Inter-League match and recorded their first victory against an unlucky on the day Redditch A 5-4 with the winning frame coming from joint-captain Mark Prosser. The Dream Team carried on what they do best and beat Kidderminster 7-2.

MATCH 3
Worcester Rileys scraped past a still winless St Johns 5-4 with the deciding black potted by other joint-captain Lee West, there was no love lost in this match as Rileys fielded no fewer than four former St Johns players in the side, not leaving St Johns captain Kev Rose a big happy bunny.Yes you guessed it,Dream Team won again as they brushed Redditch B aside 7-2.The other match, crucial to both sides to stand a chance of qualifying was Kidderminster and Redditch A which finished 5-4 to Lyn Davies` Kiddy.

MATCH 4
All three matches finished 6-3,as Fox U beat Kidderminster after being 2-0 down.Dream Team see off a desolate St Johns and Worcester Rileys piled on the agony for Redditch B after Nick Core put Rileys 4-0 up.

MATCH 5
St Johns recorded their first victory beating Redditch A 6-3 and Kidderminster saw off Redditch B to end their chances of qualification with a 6-3 win.The Fox U suffered their first defeat of the day to newbies Rileys 5-4 after Fox veteran Jamie Driscoll missed a straight black into the middle, much to the amusement of the Dream Team who were keeping a very close eye on the match.

MATCH 6
With the final black of the previous match still fresh in the minds of The Fox,they came up against an unbeaten Dream Team and when Gary Simmonds superstars went 3-2 up it was soul searching time and The Fox came back to win the last four frames to inflict the Dream Teams first defeat in all Inter-league competitions for two years, the magical score being 6-3.(note-whats the score going to be Ben???
Rileys continued their quest for silverware in their inaugural season by wholloping Kidderminster 8-1,Darryl Swallow being the only player to be defeated for Rileys. The big Redditch derby finished 8-1 to Tom Hamiltons A team to win bragging rights at the Woodrow for the next few months, with Kevin Norgrove winning the solitary frame for Sachins B team.

MATCH 7
The final round of matches were all tense affairs as the battle of the basement between St Johns and Redditch B finished 6-3 to St Johns.Top played second in a match which could have seen Rileys crowned champions as they faced holders Dream Team but the big match experience shone through as The Dream team polished off the new competition 6-3,after racing into a 3-0 lead.
If drama was what you wanted then it was about 8pm at Rileys Worcester on table 24,eight hours after the first break was made as The Fox just needing to beat Redditch A to win the tournament, could not get in fron and for every frame won by Redditch was matched by the Fox,which came down to 4-4 and the decider with captain Tom Hamilton playing former Fox U captain Dave Moss with around 100 people watching including people who just came to see the drama unfold from the Snooker room, poker tables and toilet! Moss had a bottom rail straight black to win but a minor roll off did not look too damaging until Hamilton pulled off the shot of the tournament under pressure, long cut back red, white off three cushions to land perfect on his final ball, and with the black readily set up by Moss,it was two relative tap-ins to condemn The Fox to their second defeat, and sending The Dream Team and Worcester Rileys into raptures like they had won the lottery, leaving them in third and handing the trophy to a familiar Dream Team.

Player of the tournament had to be the prolific new Dream Team signing Scott Surridge who won 6 out of 6.
